Of all the makeup products, I love powder. My skin is combination leaning towards the oily side, so powder is my best friend during the day to mattify and freshen up my face. I have tried a whole loads of powder from different brands: Rimmel Stay Matte, bareMinerals Veil, Benefits Hello Flawless, Chanel Poudre Universelle Compacte... as you can see, from very affordable drugstore brand to the high end brand, I got 'em all!

There are a few common problems with powder, regardless brand or price:
- you put powder on to mattify your face, but it could end up looking too dry
- the texture of the powder is not refined enough so end up looking cakey on face
- some powder would sit/deposit onto the fine lines on face, especially around the eye area so make lines appears more visible.
I was by no mean a makeup artist or skincare expert, but those are the problems that I found from my own experience.
However, with a recent visit to SpaceNK in Soho, I have discovered my holy grail powder: Chantecaille HD Perfecting Powder.
The Chantecaille HD Perfecting Powder doesn't have any of the above problems at all! It controls the shine and oil instantly and throughout the day. The powder is SO refine, by dusting a thin layer, you can't see the powder, no residue. The powder is invisible yet it visibly freshens up the makeup. There is no shimmer to it but yet it gives luminosity and radiance to the skin. And it doesn't settle into any fine lines.
It can be used as a finishing powder to set the makeup, a light dusting to freshen up throughout the day, or it can be used on its own all over face on a no-makeup day to give a flawless natural look.
The compact doesn't come with a sponge, I carry a brush in my handbag anyway.
The only criticism I have with this product - the price. This powder doesn't come cheap - it will set you back for £62!!! But the product is so another level above everything else, this compact will last for ever! I think this worth every penny of it. But I must admit I had a real struggle when I bought it.
Chantecaille is only a available some selected SpaceNK (and SpaceNK online) and Fenwick.
