Meeting Lily Pebbles at John Lewis: Grazia Beauty Event 25 July 2013

I was so excited when I saw Lily Pebble's post that she was going to be part of the Grazia Beauty event at John Lewis! (Lily's original post here) She was one of my favourite YouTuber and blogger that I have been followed for some time. How could I missed an opportunity to meet her in person!

Now the event itself. It was hosted by Grazia Beauty at John Lewis, an evening to talk everything about beauty. Ticket was £10 each, but it was redeemable against any purchase on the night.

I arrived at the 3rd floor brasserie of John Lewis Oxford Street. I was meet & greet by the staff with a glass of bubbly.

Different brands had set up their booth so it was like a mini beauty hall. You could book your session in advance to have beauty treatments, such as Lancôme & YSL to do your make up, Elizabeth Arden counter for a hand massage with their luxury creams, Nails Inc to do your nails! There were also other brands like Diptyque to let you smell their wonderful range of candles ( a trick that I learnt from tonight is to tip out the whole candle for a test smell, because the true smell is inside the glass!) Percy & Reed and Origins had a display for their products.

After 45 mins, the main session began - the talk was started by beauty editors from Grazia magazine to talk through their summer favorites, then it was Lily's time! She talked about her essential summer beauty bits. She was as genuine as she was in her videos, but instead of watching on my iPad mini, I was watching her live, right in front of me! After Lily's talk, we had a quick Q&A session. Then we were free to browse the mini beauty hall & mingled with everyone.

Lily Pebbles, Amelia from Liana Beauty & Anna from Vivianna does makeup were all their chatting, there were two girls who already joined in for the conversation. I kept circling in the area, pretending to look at products (knocking a few off their display) while gathering courage to walk up to them. Time was ticking, it felt like forever that I thought I needed to go over to join in.

I walked up, sat down to the chair next to them. Before I could say "hi", Lily was distracted by someone else & walked away! I was like "oh no!" But suddenly Lily turned round and saw me, she said "it's you! I want to give this to you as thank you coz I always see you in events!" I right away knew that she got me & my sister Cynthia (@beautyorbread) mixed up. My sister met Lily at the Charlotte Tilbury event in June. Tonight my sister couldn't come so I came alone instead.

Me & Lily, she was so lovely & kind.

Because of this funny confusion, I was right away put at ease and started chatting to everyone. I was so glad that I did pluck up the courage to join in the conversation, otherwise I wouldn't have met the lovely Ruby from Total Modisch and Simmi from Made in Marylebone (what a name of her blog!) (Simmi, when do we meet for a bubble tea?)

The evening was concluded by leaving with a massive goodie bag from John Lewis. (The most exciting item has to be the set of Guerlain travel brushes in a pouch)

I had a wonderful evening and met some interesting people - I met a lady whose daughter would be getting married next saturday and she wanted advice of how to do her own makeup on the day. She has used Lancome's products for 40 years, she even brought in her own palette tonight for advice!

Of course it was particularly nice to meet fellow bloggers & make some new friends!

When will we all meet again in the next event?

Tuesday means... Steak night at Wetherspoon!

"Are you serious?" I know what you are thinking. Wetherspoon pubs have revamped their menu and food quality, but the price has stayed low.

Budget Buy: MUA nail polish in Natural Days

When I was in Superdrug to buy the Tiffany colours (NYC nail polishes  - check out my blog post here ), as the offer was 3 for 2 across all nail polishes, I picked up a MUA polish as my freebie. I saw this pastel baby pink colour in Natural Days. The colour looks really cute in the bottle.

Estee Lauder Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Night Serum

Lately I have been obsessed with the Estee Lauder Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Night Serum . In the past I tried the Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution, it was alright but I didn’t find the result that amazing. So when I got a sample of for this Estee Lauder Enlighten Serum, I didn’t have high hopes … But how wrong I was! The sample bottle lasted me for two generous weeks and after that I rushed out to get the full size. Although it is called a serum, it is a light milky lotion texture, it is easily absorbed into skin and it feels moisturising. With the sample bottle, I used it every night after my cleansing routine. I can see visible results to my face after two weeks. My blemish marks are significantly lighter (my main concern) and the skin tone for the rest of my face is visibly more even.  Now I have the full size bottle (30ml, also available in 50ml size), I am going to follow the instructions to use it both day and night. Use it at night to reduce
