If you have read my Current Skincare Staples post, you would know that I have combination towards oily skin, deep cleansing products like clay masks & face exfoliator have become my skincare obsession.
Recently I have tried a few exfoliators that I really love. They are physical exfoliators, which means they have beads or particles that actually scrub your face. If you have sensitive skin, you should use these products sparsely (once a week or even once every fortnight) and scrub gently.
Antipodes Reincarnation Pure Facial Exfoliator
Antipodes is a New Zealand brand which I have been wanting to try for ages. They emphasise on using 100% natural ingredients in their products. I got this Exofoliator (full size) as a free gift in Selfridges's promotion when I bought two items (I bought their Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream & the Manuka Honey Mask).
I instantly felt in love with this because the Jojoba beads are very small & packed within the cleanser. The scent is not bad either, it has a citrus scent to it due to the sweet orange & cedarwood oils inside the cleanser. My skin feels thoroughly cleansed but not being stripped back, thanks to the lovely avocado oil.
I am loving the fact that it is gentle and soothing enough to use it as a everyday cleanser, or whenever you feel the need to exfoliate.
You can get this from feelunique.com (£20.99).
dr brandt microdermabrasion skin exfoliant
I got this little sample in my October Birchbox. The tiny tube lasted me for about 5 washes in the shower - yes, I would suggest this to be used in the shower when your face will be all soft & pores open up in the steam, because this exfoliant is so potent!
"Micro" "Abrasion" - that is exactly what you will get. Beads are so micro that you can hardly see the, but these micro beads are so powerful that gives a very fine abrasion on the face. It has a minty scent to it so my face feels cleanse & fresh afterwards. It is important that you only use it once a week max because the exfoliation is POWERFUL.
You can buy it from Birchbox's website (£67) Ouch!
Lush "Let the Good Times Roll" Face & Body Cleanser
If you know about Lush products, particularly around Christmas time, you will likely to have come across this yummy cleanser. This was in their limited Christmas collection last year (2012), but I didn't know until I finished my tub & couldn't repurchase it in the shop. This year, it was launched with their Christmas collection again, but I was told that this time, this is going to stay in their permanent line! Yay!!!
The beads are polenta grains (who else could think of to use polenta grains as exfoliating beads???). The cleanser itself has a doughey texture, and it does smell like a cookie dough too!! Scrumptious!! You take a pinch in your palm, add a few drops of water and start rubbing on your palm, the dough would turn into a paste that you can cleanse your face with. After cleansing, the cookie scent linger on my face the whole day (no good because all I could think is cookies all day!). You can take a bigger lump if to be used in the shower as body cleanser.
You can buy it from Lush store or their online shop (£6.35/100g; £15.87/250g)
They are my absolute favourite exfoliators. The beads are fine and are jam packed within the creamy cleanser (I don't like gel cleanser with a few beads floating around). Even the exfoliating action are relatively powerful and abrasive, they cleanse without stripping the skin due to the natural oils in the cleanser.
Have you tried any of these products before? What is your favourite exfoliator/face scrub?
